MASTER'S ARTISTRY Ojiya Tsumugi

Warmth and rusticity in every thread

A silk ikat fabric with a light, warm hand. Like Ojiya Chijimi, each pre-dyed kasuri thread is hand-rubbed and individually aligned during weaving. The weft-only ikat technique produces diverse, warmly rustic patterns with a distinctly handmade character.

Ojiya Tsumugi

Silk Ikat Weave of Ojiya

A lightweight, warm silk kasuri (ikat) fabric woven using the yoko-sogasuri technique — plain warp, ikat weft only.

Each thread is hand-rubbed to create the pattern, then aligned one by one during weaving to produce the finished design.

The resulting patterns are diverse, with a warmly rustic, artisan character that makes the garment stand out when worn.
