A gossamer fabric for the height of summer

Once the pinnacle of fashion as a sheer luxury summer kimono, Tokamachi Akashi Chijimi shares the same pre-dyed ikat structure as Tokamachi Gasuri. Its defining feature is the strong twist (nenshi) applied to the weft yarn, which is then hot-water treated to produce the distinctive fine crinkle (shibo) that gives the fabric its cool, whispering touch.

Once the height of fashion as a sheer luxury summer kimono, Akashi Chijimi shares the pre-dyed ikat weave structure of Tokamachi Gasuri.

The key distinction is the strong twist (nenshi) applied to the weft yarn. Hot-water treatment then creates the distinctive fine crinkle (shibo) surface.

The resulting fabric has a cool, smooth, whispering touch — ideal for hot Japanese summers.
